Pulp & Paper / Mining

Drying · slurry systems · site heating · plant utilities

Pulp and paper mills and mining operations need high-capacity, reliable steam or hot water for demanding industrial heating, production support, and plant utilities.

Industry Overview

Pulp and paper mills and mining operations need high-capacity, reliable steam or hot water for demanding industrial heating, production support, and plant utilities.

High-Capacity Heating

Up to 950 psig Steam · 70 MW Power Input

Flexible Capacity

ZETA boilers consume less than 50 kW in warm standby and generate no heat until called into operation. This helps reduce explosion risk while keeping backup or supplemental capacity readily available.

High-Purity Dry Steam

ZETA boilers deliver steam quality above 99.8%, limiting moisture carryover for effective heat transfer, while maintaining less than 5 ppb sodium to help minimize corrosion within the steam system.

Holmen Paper’s Hallsta Paper Mill required reliable high-capacity steam for continuous pulp and paper production, including drying, process heating, and plant utility needs. By opting for ZETA’s electrode boiler technology, the site was able to shift from biofuel-fired steam production and allowing biofuel resources to be used more strategically elsewhere in the mill energy system.

ZETA previously supplied a 40 MW boiler to Hallsta Paper Mill, followed by a 60 MW electric steam boiler operating at a 32 bar design pressure, which is the largest ZETA boiler in Sweden.
