Zander & Ingeström (Z&I) was established in 1898 by Oskar Zander and Bengt Ingeström in Stockholm, Sweden. Z&I has been a leading provider of medium voltage electrode boilers for almost 100 years. We are the original inventor and pioneer of the immersion electrode steam and hot water boiler. Our company headquarter remains in Stockholm, Sweden, where our management and R&D team is located. Our R&D organization has been refining electrode boilers since its introduction, bringing improvements to meet the latest electrical grid and customer operating requirements. We are constantly making improvements to these boilers to complement them with the latest controls and instrumentation. We work with manufacturing partners worldwide that help us produce pressure vessels according to local requirements such as PED, ASME, and CRN. There more than 1000 electrode boiler installations worldwide, more than any other manufacturers of medium voltage electrode boilers today, giving us unparalleled experience in the manufacture and operation of these boilers.

In 1898 Bengt Ingeström had a vision. He realized that new technology could transform Sweden into a modern industrial country and that new ideas would lead to change. He saw many opportunities in the most exciting technical breakthroughs of the time, such as the steam turbine, developed by Gustaf de Laval. As a result, he created the engineering firm Zander & Ingeström with his colleague Oskar Zander. It was 1898 and a successful business was founded. The company marketed steam turbines and centrifugal pumps, as well as getting actively involved in product development. They contributed to new inventions and expanded into new areas. Bengt Ingeström became a central figure in Sweden’s technological history. Our company became a source of inspiration and knowledge, always interacting closely with both the market and customers. In the 1920s, we developed the world’s first electrode steam boilers. Instead of burning fossil fuel, it could utilize clean electricity. So, today, after almost 100 years, the product has been continuously modernized and improved and serves as a tool to decarbonize our industrial heat sector using renewable electricity.
